Released / Baldur's Gate 3 systems mod

Hunted

Hunted makes hostile territory respond to the party's actions, with configurable ambushes and retaliation.

The problem

An ambush scheduled before travel or a reload should not repeat or run after its context has changed. The system needs to remember what it scheduled, check that the encounter still makes sense and stop work that has expired.

My contribution

I define the encounter rules and player-facing controls, review behaviour and reported problems, and maintain the documentation, releases and support. I use AI coding tools extensively to implement and revise the Lua systems, with review focused on the intended game behaviour and integration limits.

Implementation choices

Make encounters respond to context

Creature-type reputation and regional pressure shape retaliation. Party-level and party-size checks, cooldowns and story-area gates constrain when an encounter can begin. Players can tune the system through BG3MCM.

Provide integration points

A documented server-side API lets compatibility authors register enemy and champion providers, supply custom ambushes and work with reputation and XP mappings. That gives other mods a defined integration surface.

Bound delayed work

Current development separates an encounter's original deadline from later retry timestamps, tracks ownership and rejects stale callbacks. Recorded offline regressions cover that repair; its final package and gameplay acceptance are still pending.

Result

Hunted is available on Nexus with public source and compatibility documentation. The released mod demonstrates the encounter system; ongoing lifecycle repairs show how I review and refine it after release.

Availability and scope

Public releases and current development are separate. The Nexus page defines the downloadable package and its known limits; newer source repairs do not imply a published or gameplay-qualified update.

Project notes reviewed October 7, 2026. Development status is separate from Nexus reception updates.
